Listen to music. However, not just any music will do. The next time you feel your anxiety levels rising, throw on your favorite CD, or playlist. Whether you enjoy the calming sounds of a classical orchestra, or rocking out to 80's hair metal, you will feel your anxiety melt away with each song you know by heart. Before you know it, the anxiety is reduced, if not gone, and your spirits will be invigorated and renewed.

To help you deal with anxiety and rid yourself of negative feelings, try watching something on TV that cheers you up. Oftentimes watching your favorite TV show or a comedy which makes you laugh, will have a positive effect on how you are feeling. If you are feeling positive, then you stop thinking about the negative things that are causing your anxiety.

Utilize progressive relaxation. When anxious feelings are creeping in, take calming breaths and focus on individual areas of the body to relax. Start at your feet, focus your mind on relaxing them and when you feel you have done so, move upward. Each step along the way is telling your mind that you are relaxed and creates a clear focus on issues.

If you suffer from anxiety, make sure you eat a healthy diet and get plenty of sleep and exercise. The better shape your body is in, the more resistant to stress and other forms of anxiety it will be! Sleep deprivation, hunger and ill-health, will leave you much more vulnerable to the affects of anxiety.

Think happy thoughts. If you have problems falling asleep at night because of anxiety, think about everything good in your life and the positive things you are going to do the next day. While it may seem hard to do at first, the more you do it, the more you will get used to it.

Do not worry alone. When your worrisome thoughts go unchecked, they can easily spiral into terrible doomsday scenarios unnecessarily. Call a friend or supportive loved one, and run your fears past them. They can probably offer you some reassurance and perspective on what is bothering you, keeping your fears under control.

If you are feeling stressed, one of the greatest assets is socializing. Anxiety, and stress can both be reduced. by having a great chat with close friends. Calling up a family member, or having a beer with a coworker. Try to participate in social activities on a regular basis.

When people are under high emotional stress, they might find it difficult to eat on a regular basis and possibly experience significant changes in their metabolism. So, if you are experiencing anxiety, you need to make sure that the meals you eat are full of nutrients, and you are not wasting your effort eating foods that are not good for you.
